Officer Christian Vargas was traveling east on Post Road toward the West Shore Road intersection Oct. 16 at 10:21 p.m. near Karl’s East Coast Speed as he took a left through the roundabout there when a white sedan approaching from West Shore Road speed past, prompting him to stop the car, then arrest the driver for possession of clonazapam and suboxone.

A few Friday morning commuters hesitated at the yield areas near the newly opened roundabout at Greenwich Avenue and Veterans Memorial Drive (the Dunkin Donuts), and needed a patrolman’s direction at the new two-way option up Greenwich Avenue at Apponaug Four Corners, but officers posted throughout the area reported a smooth transition as the new changes took effect.

The long-anticipated $200,000 update of the Victorian Lady, the pink, aged four-story headquarters of the Central RI Chamber of Commerce at 3288 Post Road, began Friday, with workers demolishing the front steps, the first step in a process intended to renovate the building in synch with a rapidly renewing Apponaug.
