Warwick, RI — Commutes on Rte. 2 and Greenwich Avenue may take some extra time this week as overhead wires are moved on the former and repairs are made on the I-295 bridge over the latter, RIDOT reports.
According to the RIDOT, lane shifts are possible as overhead wires are relocated along Rte. 5 (Greenwich Avenue), from Post Road to Luther Avenue, Tuesday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. as the Apponaug Circulator Project continues.  One-lane, short-term closures may also occur during cable installation on the road.
Work at the former mill site, including construction of the new bypass spillway structure, is also ongoing, yet this does not involve traffic impacts.
Mayor Scott Avedisian announced on his Facebook page the following update on Apponaug Circulator Project work last week, Feb. 8 through Feb. 13:
Veterans Memorial Drive –Post Road to Greenwich Ave:
• Continued Installation of new Drainage system on Veterans Memorial Drive.
Greenwich Avenue – Veterans Memorial to Centerville / Post Rd:
• Relocation of overhead utility cables continued
Veterans Memorial Drive Extension (Former Mill Site):
• Continued construction of By-Pass Spillway Structure.
In non-Apponaug news, RIDOT also advises crews will be working on Rte. 2 North and South under I-295, for bridge work behind the barrier, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No lane closures were reported related to the work.
