WARWICK, RI — Hesitant morning commuters navigated the newly opened roundabout at Greenwich Avenue and Veterans Memorial Drive  and the new two-way option up Greenwich Avenue at Apponaug Four Corners, with a few officers monitoring and occasionally directing traffic through the new byways.

The officers’ supervision is staying for the next seven days.

“We are very pleased at the progress this morning, said Capt. Brad Connor of the WPD Community Services Division, “We were able to open up the Veterans Memorial Drive Extension west bound earlier than anticipated which allowed for traffic to be diverted away from Apponaug Four Corners.”

“There will be an adjustment period as drivers get accustomed to the new pattern but officers will be on site 24 hours until next week to ensure the motorist’ safety, Connor said.

Connor and Warwick Police urge motorists to take it slow and follow the new signs and road markings.
