Superior Court Overturns ‘Unfair Labor Practice’ Ruling Against Warwick School Committee

PROVIDENCE, RI — On Thursday, RI Superior Court Judge Bennett R. Gallo overturned the State Labor Relation Board’s order that the Warwick School Committee must honor the expired Teachers Union (WTI) contract, stating the decision was issued with no opportunity for the elected body to argue it, and that the ruling of unfair labor practices against the body was unfounded.

Special Education Advocate Sues Warwick School Committee, Claims Open Meeting Violation

WARWICK, RI — Anthony Sinapi, lawyer and advocate for parents contesting Warwick Public Schools’ special education plans for their children, has filed an Open Meeting Act lawsuit in Superior Court against the Warwick School Committee contesting the body has skirted the law by holding the Elementary Consolidation Committee (ECC) in closed session, and by failing to post agendas for or keep minutes of those meetings.
