RI State Troopers arrested two people for DUI in separate wrong-way driving crashes overnight Saturday with no serious injuries resulting, a fortunate outcome given the recklessness of the drivers involved, according to Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police.
Officer Jeremy Smith was called to the Post Road entrance to TF Green Airport for a report of a black car with heavy front end damage facing the wrong way on the one-way road with the driver passed out at the wheel, ultimately arresting the man on a DUI charge.
Officer Thomas Duncan was approaching the intersection of Post Road and Greenwich Avenue in his cruiser when a gray 2015 Toyota drove north from Post Road, then north on Greenwich Avenue, going against southbound traffic, and stopped the driver after the Cranston man nearly crashed into four southbound cars, arresting him on a DUI charge.

RI State Police responded to a crash caused by a wrong-way driver on Rte. 99 in Lincoln, tracked down a man reportedly exposing himself March 9 on Rte. 95, nabbed a court scofflaw and stopped a driver charged with DUI in Warwick-related calls this week.
Troopers were called to Rte. 99 North in Lincoln March 15 at 2:58 a.m., arresting a Warwick wrong-way driver who caused two crashes, one involving two vehicles and his own, then a second when two cars collided trying to avoid the first crash, injuring all five drivers.
Warwick officers were called to the Bald Hill Road Sunoco Jan. 19 at 1:56 a.m. after a AAA driver who’d reported a PT Cruiser traveling the wrong way on the highway alerted them the car had made it to the gas station, also while operating on the wrong side of the road.
Warwick Police arrested and charged a 24-year-old Warwick man with driving under the influence of alcohol Jan. 6 at 4 a.m. after he drove his blue 2001 Buick LeSabre the wrong way on Veterans Memorial Drive, striking a 2004 Subaru near the Mobil station.
