The RI Department of Transportation’s work on the final elements of the Apponaug Circulator Project continues this week with curbing work at the Apponaug Four Corners roundabout and on Post Road through the village.
Drivers through Apponaug Four Corners (Post Road at Centerville Road and Greenwich Avenue) should be wary of potential lane closures this week at the RIDOT continues work at the center of that roundabout, the agency warns.
With six weeks left till the Apponaug Circulator Project wraps Sept. 8, RIDOT has reminded drivers that Post Road is narrowing to one lane soon, and isn’t meant to be the primary eastern route through the village any longer.
A water main break during a fire hydrant installation at 6:30 a.m. that shut down Post Road from Apponaug Four Corners to West Shore Road is expected to be repaired by noon, with the road open to traffic again by about 2 p.m., DPW Director David Picozzi and Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian report.

Don’t forget, Apponaug drivers — Veterans Memorial Drive and Veterans Memorial Drive extension go two-way today, allowing this morning’s commuters to bypass village traffic running from Toll Gate and Centerville Roads to T.F. Green Airport, and vice-versa.
RIDOT is scheduled to open the westbound section of the Veterans Memorial Drive Extension, the new roadway segment in Apponaug, during the week of Oct. 11, the first step in establishing two-way traffic through the Apponaug Circulator project this fall.
The Apponaug Circulator Project’s latest roundabout at Centerville, Toll Gate, Gilbane Street opened Wednesday, handling traffic from four directions without the aid of signals.
