As the RIACLU’s bid for a restraining order suspending the state’s new prohibition of Level III sex offenders housed within 1,000 feet of schools is heard in US District Court this afternoon, one Warwick sponsor of the restriction stands behind the restriction.
Numerous other registrants across Rhode Island, those that have stayed in their homes up to this point, will in a few days face either arrest or homelessness. The ACLU is fighting this.

US Marshals arrested a Warwick Level III sex offender Friday who had been traveling without registering to California, Florida, Maryland, Connecticut, Maine and Pennsylvania since Sept. 19, when he was notified state law required him to move out of his Namquid Drive home, a short walk from John Brown Francis Elementary School.

A registered sex offender living in Warwick was arrested July 16 on charges of indecent solicitation of a minor and electronically sending indecent material to minors after RI State Police followed leads from a federal human trafficking investigation in New Jersey in April.
