Don’t forget, Apponaug drivers — Veterans Memorial Drive and Veterans Memorial Drive extension go two-way today, allowing this morning’s commuters to bypass village traffic running from Toll Gate and Centerville Roads to T.F. Green Airport, and vice-versa.
With Post Road East opened to two way traffic Wednesday, the RIDOT is turning to plans to do the same for Veterans Memorial Drive and Veterans Memorial Drive Extension Nov. 22, re-routing the main flow of traffic around Apponaug instead of directly through.
Hesitant morning commuters navigated the newly opened roundabout at Greenwich Avenue and Veterans Memorial Drive and the new two-way option up Greenwich Avenue at Apponaug Four Corners, with a few officers monitoring and occasionally directing traffic through the new byways.
Resurfacing work continues on Veterans Memorial Drive, and the new road connecting the intersection of Toll Gate Road and Centerville Road to it is also progressing as RIDOT reports lane closures and shifts throughout the Apponaug Circulator Project this week.
