WARWICK, R.I. — The Warwick Police SWAT team was called to 76 Janet Ct. at 7:35 p.m. Thursday night for a report of a man on his roof with what the caller said might have been an air rifle, coaxed him into his front yard, then tasered and arrested him when he refused to respond to their instructions to show his hands.
The Warwick Police SWAT team has finished in the top 10 the last eight years they’ve competed in the annual Connecticut SWAT Challenge (CSC 2016), but their latest competition Aug. 23 – 25 put a first place trophy in their hands, a feat Mayor Scott Avedisian congratulated them on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Range Road SWAT range.
Warwick Police, including a SWAT team, responded to a report from a man who said his friend had assaulted him while on drugs and was possibly violent at about noon Saturday, but the man surrendered peacefully at 2:45 p.m.
Warwick, RI – Warwick Police responded to Motel 6 at 20 Jefferson Blvd. at 2 p.m. Monday where a man had retreated with a revolver after chasing a woman into the parking lot firing several shots, resolving the situation peacefully thanks to the efforts of a SWAT negotiator.
