WPD Chases, Arrests Hit & Run Driver Near Main, Jefferson

WARWICK, RI — Officer Timothy Lipka was called to the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Main Avenue for a report of a 2017 Honda Accord that had struck a 2002 Chevy Tahoe then fled the scene on foot, catching and arresting the driver on a hit-and-run charge.

The man reporting the fleeing driver worked for City Towing, and told Lipka that a coworker was chasing him as he ran toward the train tracks behind Auto Zone, according to Lipka’s report.

The suspect was described as a man with glasses, jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. Lipka searched for him near CVS on Post Road, where two WPD detectives found the man, and detained him as he was attempting to accept a ride from an Uber driver.  Lipka reported that the man, identified as Jordan Page Rose, 26, of 43 Hope St., apt, 3., Pawtucket, RI.

The detectives informed Lipka that Rose had entered CVS and called an Uber in an attempt to flee the scene, but had been stopped before he could get into the ride-for-hire vehicle.

Lipka transported Rose to Warwick Police Headquarters, where he was charged with failing in his duty to stop following a crash and felony reckless driving due to a previous reckless driving charge on his record.

Rose also had a number of warrants for his arrest from Pawtucket Police on charges of domestic strangulation, domestic assault, domestic disorderly conduct. He was held overnight pending a hearing in Third District Court.
