need to know2Warwick, RI – June’s just gotten started, and Warwick already has important things brewing, starting with the latest meeting in a series of budget hearings to determine the city’s budget for FY2016.

Warwick Post covered the first two hearings on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Budget Hearings continue this evening at 5 p.m. in Warwick City Hall with the Warwick City Council, followed by a meeting of the Finance Committee.

Aside from the city’s finances and the future of your tax bills, there are also a number of traffic advisories and few fundraisers to take note of before you start your day.

Let’s start with the travel and commuting notes:

  • Airport Connector East, from I-95 to the T.F. Green Airport Terminal, left lane closed for overhead sign work, Sunday night from midnight to 4 a.m. the following day.
  • Airport Connector East and West, from I-95 to the T.F. Green Airport Terminal, alternating lane closures and temporary ramp narrowing for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Rte. 5 (Greenwich Ave.), from Veterans Memorial Dr. to Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), two lanes closed for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Expect delays.
  • Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.) West, from Diamond Hill Rd. to Toll Gate Rd., one lane closed for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Rte. 1 (Post Rd.) East, from West Shore Rd. to Veterans Memorial Dr., two lanes closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Expect delays.
  • Rte. 1 (Veterans Memorial Dr.) South, from Rte. 1 at Post Rd. Ext. to Rte. 5 (Greenwich Ave.), one lane closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • The right lane is closed on a short section of the Post Rd. Extension East, beginning at Post Rd., for Apponaug Circulator work. This restriction will remain throughout the duration of the project.

Relay for Life fundraiser, Warwick FOP Lodge,  Stop by the Warwick FOP Lodge, 95 Tanner Ave. Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., for a pasta and meatball dinner, benefitting the Warwick Relay for Life. Adults are $10, under 5 is $5.

Relay for Life fundraiser, Uno’s Warwick – Uno’s Restaurant is hosting a fundraiser for Coventry Relay for Life team, Carol’s Cancer Crushers. Stop by for a bite at the restaurant at 399 Bald Hill Road, and present one of the flyers attached to this article, and 15 to 20 percent of your bill goes to the American Cancer Society.

Don’t miss the Warwick Relay for Life, an overnight festival fundraiser to benefit cancer cure and treatment research at Tollgate High School, coming up June 20.

Totally Kids Family Fun Day – On Sunday, June 7, Totally Kids Day Care is hosting a Family Fun Day at  Goddard Park from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. near the clubhouse.

Proceeds from a raffle at the event will go towards a flagpole for the center in memory of Brianna Houle.
