WARWICK, RI — Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) will host a telephone town hall about the $1.9T stimulus, the American Rescue Plan Act COVID relief package President Biden signed into law Thursday, on Monday, March 15, 6:00 p.m.
House Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Congressman Richard Neal, who authored portions of the bill providing $1,400 Economic Impact Payments to Americans, expanded unemployment insurance, and a revamped child tax credit, will join Langevin. So will newly sworn in Gov. Dan McKee, and Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training Acting Director Matt Weldon.
“The American Rescue Plan is a bold response to the COVID crisis that will help Rhode Islanders weather this tough time,” Langevin said. “From direct cash assistance to funds to help our state and cities and towns recover, it delivers on our promise to provide help to those hit hardest by the pandemic. Rhode Island stands to receive extensive support with billions in aid and I want my constituents to know how they will benefit. I invite Rhode Islanders to join my special guests Chairman Neal, Governor Dan McKee, and DLT Acting Director Matt Weldon for this important discussion on Monday, March 15, at 6 p.m.”
Langevin voted to advance the latest package, which includes $1,400 direct payments, enhanced unemployment benefits of $300 weekly through Sept. 6, and expanded tax credits for families with children. It also provides billions in aid to Rhode Island for local governments, schools, and businesses, and expands access to testing and vaccinations.
The telephone town hall is free and open to the public. Those interested may call 855-962-1080 Monday, March 15 at 6:00pm to participate or register to receive a call to join at: https://vekeo.com/replangevin/
