WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police report a Providence man wanted in an Aug. 31 hit &run turned himself in on the hit & run warrant Sept. 14.

Eduardo Gomez, 42, of 54 Riverdale St., FL Apt. #1, Providence, RI, walked-in to turn himself in on the warrant at about 8 a.m. Sept. 14. Officer Anthony Meola arrested and processed him on the charge.

The warrant stemmed from a motorist’s report Aug. 31 at 7:12 p.m., when Officer Charles Walker was called to the area of Gilbane and Meadow Streets to speak with the driver of a Silver 2017 Subaru Forrester, a Coventry woman, who said her car had been struck by a silver Toyota sedan.

The driver said the driver of the Toyota struck her vehicle while the two were navigating the rotary near Cafe Tempo. Initially, the Toyota didn’t stop, and she folowed honking until the driver pulled over near her current location. The woman called WPD to report the crash, and as the two were waiting for an officer to respond, the driver of the Toyota drove away.

The woman described the driver and Toyota, including the plate number, and Walker was able to identify the owner, who matched the woman’s description. Shortly after, a man called Warwick Police dispatch to report the crash as well, identifying himself as Eduardo, according to Walker’s report.

Walker issued the hit&run warrant for Gomez for failing in his duty to stop in a crash involving a motor vehicle.
