Work on the Apponaug Circulator Project, at least four months ahead of schedule continues day and night, with roundabouts shaping up at the north and south ends of the village.

Warwick Post has collected a gallery of views of the work from Tuesday, Nov. 17, along with the latest from the RIDOT, via Mayor Scott Avedisian’s office, about current work on  the project:

Ongoing Construction

RIDOT crews continue to construct the new roundabout, the traffic island on West Shore Road, and install plantable soil at various locations:

Two lanes will be closed along Route 1 (Post Road), from West Shore Road to Veterans Memorial Drive, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

One lane will be closed on Route 1 (Veterans Memorial Drive) South, from Route 1 at the Post Road Extension to Route (Greenwich Avenue), weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Crews will continue to construct the new roundabout and the Post Road Extension. We will also work on drainage, excavation, and highway lighting.

On Centerville Road, from Diamond Hill Road to Toll Gate Road, crews will have periodic one-lane closures weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overhead wire relocation will continue on Greenwich Avenue, from Luther Avenue to Centerville Road, with one lane closed weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work at the former mill site, including installation of the new drainage system and construction of the new modular retaining wall, will also continue. (These activities do not produce traffic impacts.)

Overnight Work

RIDOT will continue removing the pavement on Centerville Road westbound. This will take place Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. During this process, motorists are advised to use caution as there will be a gravel riding surface. Paving may begin as early as Monday night, after which time we will move to the eastbound lane for pavement removal.

RIDOT also continues to perform water service tie-ins on Post Road, from Centerville Road to West Shore Road, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

RIDOT plans to start preparing to tie in services to the water main on Centerville Road, from Diamond Hill Road to Drum Rock Road, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. This will result in a temporary interruption of the water service, and affected parties will be notified.
