Warwick, RI – Firefighters on Warwick Engine 7 found a missing kayaker Saturday morning after her husband lost sight of her on the Pawtuxet River and called for help at about 10:25 a.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Cooley said WFD Station 2 in Lakewood responded to the call, as did Cranston firefighters. Somehow, he said, the couple were separated as they kayaked together on the river.

While the Cranston crew met with the man near the boat launch the couple had used on Knight Street near the Cranston/Warwick line, firefighters on Engine 7 searched along the water, locating the woman at the Warwick Wastewater Treatment Plant, where she had pulled her kayak out of the water.

Neither kayaker capsized during the incident, Cooley said.

The Warwick firefighters transported the woman safely back to Knight Street and reunited the couple.
