WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police report Greenwich Avenue lane closures near Potters Avenue for the next few weeks as the Warwick Sewer Authority prepares to repair a sagging sewer line.

The line has not broken, police report. The closure is in preparation for a preemptive repair.

“The sewer line was inspected this morning (video) due to depressions in the roadway that were observed above the pipeline which is located 26’ below grade. The poor condition of the pipe in relation to the depressions has prompted WSA to close that area out of an abundance of caution until they can enter and perform the required repair. While the pipe requires rehabilitation, WSA emphasized that it is not broken or collapsed,” police reported on their Facebook page.
Police warned drivers to seek alternate routes and drive with caution.
