WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police have identified and arrested North Smithfield man as the Warwick City Park vandal who drove through about a dozen sections of wood fencing early Feb. 21.
At about 3 a.m. that day, the Warwick City Park vandal drove a vehicle through about a dozen sections of wood fencing and a soccer net, possibly damaging the fields.
According to police, an officer conducting a check of Warwick City Park noted the 12 wooden fences surrounding the baseball and soccer fields to be freshly damaged. Damage was also done to one of the soccer nets on the soccer field. It was believed a vehicle drove through the fences before driving on the snow covered fields, causing unknown amounts of damage to the fields due to the snow covering
the fields.
Wariwck Detectives investigated, identifying possible suspects. Cody O’Brien, 25, with a last known address in North Smithfield, was identified as the main suspect and was arrested Feb. 29 and charged wwith one
count of vandalism.
Warwick City Park, located near 185 Asylum Road, a 126-acre park, is home to Buttonwoods Beach, three baseball fields, picnic areas and shelters, three miles of paved bicycle paths, and toilet facilities.
