WARWICK, RI — The Warwick Police Department and the RIDOT have issued separate alerts for travelers as repairs to a broken sewer line on Sandy Lane and Rte. 117 road repairs continue.
The Sandy Lane construction, police report, is expected to last another two weeks.
Warwick Police used their Facebook page to remind motorists dealing with traffic congestion as the city repairs a sewer line on Sandy Lane to be mindful of people who live and work in the area of Cedar Swamp Road as they’re driving through the detour, a 25 mph zone.
“A reminder to all the motorist who are using the new detour on Cedar Swamp Rd. This is a residential area where people live and kids play. Please respect the speed limit and treat this road like it was yours. Traffic officers will be out enforcing the speed limit to ensure everyone’s safety,” Police wrote last week.
In other traffic-related news, the RIDOT announced lane closures on Rte. 117 from Diamond Hill Road to West Shore Road this week:
Warwick: Rte. 117 East and West, from Diamond Hill Rd. to West Shore Rd., right lane and shoulder closures for construction, Mon.-Fri. from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
