WARWICK, RI — On Jan. 13 at 9:03 a.m., Officer Brian Holleran was called to the intersection of Bald Hill Road and Universal Boulevard for a crash between a  white 2003 Mercury Sable and a Nissan Rogue, arresting the Sable driver for driving without a license.

Holleran found the Sable with front-end damage and the Rogue with rear-driver’s side damage, according to the officer’s report. He spoke with the Sable’s driver, Scott Roby, 36, of 194 Andrews Ave, West Warwick, who apologized or causing the crash, and that he didn’t have a driver’s licesne.

Roby told Holleran he had been driving in the left thru-lane headed north on Bald Hill Road, seeing the traffic signal at the intersection turn from green, to yellow, to red. He said a “black vehicle,” moved from the right thru-lane into his lane, and he didn’t have time to stop his car to avoid the crash.

Roby refused a WFD Rescue to check for injuries from the crash, according to the report.

Holleran checked Roby’s records, confirming his license had been suspended and that he didn’t have a driver’s license in any other state. He arrested Roby and transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, where he was charged with driving with a suspended license.
