WPD IDs Man Pulled From A Pool Sunday

WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police have identified the 74-year-old Warwick man pulled from a pool at 1000 Cowesett Road Sunday, later pronounced dead at Kent Hospital.

The man, Charles Schifino, 74, who lived at the address, was pulled from the pool by members of the Warwick  Fire Department responding to a report of an unresponsive male in the swimming pool at about 2:35 p.m., according to a statement by Lt. Andrew P. Sullivan.

Warwick Fire Department personnel arrived first, removed Schifino from the pool and began resuscitation measures. The victim was transported to Kent Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, Sullivan reported.

Warwick Police also responded to the call.

The cause and manner of Schifino’s death have not been determined and are pending an autopsy, according to police.
