Warwick, RI – Mayor Scott Avedisian reminded residents on Monday that weekly curb-side collection of yard waste has started back up and continues weekly until Oct. 5.

Yard waste pickup began again the week of March 23 and is collected on the same day that one’s trash and recycling are picked up.

Grass, leaves, brush and garden debris must be placed in 30-gallon biodegradable paper yard waste bags or in 32-gallon or smaller barrels. Please remove all dirt and rocks. Yard waste bags are available at many local retailers.

Branches must be tied in bundles four feet in length and placed next to bags or barrels. Branch bundles should be no larger than eight inches in diameter.

Avedisian noted the compost facility is also now open to Warwick residents Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The yard waste collection program began in 1993.

“The curbside collection offers our residents a convenient way to dispose of yard waste, and has been a popular program since its inception,” Avedisian said. “It’s an important component of our wide-ranging recycling efforts and we are pleased to offer this service to our residents year after year.”
