Warwick, RI – Warwick Police arrested a Granite Falls, WA man at Hilton Garden Inn on Thurber Avenue April 3, charging him with indecent exposure after a mother reported seeing him touching himself as he watched her sister and son at the pool there.
Officer Kevin McGuire was called to the 1 Thurber St. address at about 6 p.m. that day for a report of a man exposing himself in the pool area. At the scene, he spoke to the woman who made the report, according to the report.
The woman said her mother and sister were visiting her at the hotel. She said she, her mother, her 13-year-old sister and 4-year-old son went to the pool. As she was returning from changing into her suit, she said, she saw a man who had come in and sat down in the pool area touching himself, in a state of arousal, as he watched her son and sister, McGuire reported.
The woman told McGuire she yelled at the man, “Get out. Get out now,” and the man stood up and walked to the pool room’s door.
The woman’s mother walked to the desk to alert the hotel staff, and the man followed her there, according to the officer’s report. The man was described as less than 6 feet tall, wearing khakis and a white shirt, with a beer belly.
At the desk, the mother pointed the man out to the clerk.
McGuire and the clerk then went to the man’s room, and when the he came to the door, the clerk recognized him as the man the mother had pointed out to her. He was later identified as Arun Kumar Sethi, 52, of 710 N. Granite Ave., Granite Falls, WA,
McGuire placed Sethi in handcuffs, and questioned him about the incident, which he denied. Sethi said he’d simply been sitting in the pool with his drink. The woman also identified Sethi after the officer stood him on the sidewalk outside the building.
McGuire transported Sethi to Warwick Police Headquarters 99 Veterans Memorial Highway, where he was charged with indecent exposure. He was scheduled for a pre-trial conference April 29 in Third District Court.
