WARWICK, RI — It’s a precipitation-strewn Warwick weekend events lineup with a sunny middle, punctuated by soup-fueled dance, and the Women’s Expo.

Warwick Weekend weather will see temperatures in the 50s and a pretty good chance of  rain Friday and Sunday, with Saturday the apparent sunny jewel of the three days, according to the National Weather Service. Here are some events and happenings you can enjoy along the way:

Warwick Weekend Friday:

 Norwood branch Library Building Club: Join other kids to create with Legos and Manga-tiles every Friday afternoon at the Norwood Branch.

Thayer Arena Public Skate: Through March, Friday and Sunday, Public Skate is open to skaters of all ages. Cost to Skate is $5 – Children 5 and under are free. Skate Rentals are available at Sandy Lane Sports across the street from the rink.

  • Fridays 3:15-5:15 p.m.
  • Sundays 12:50 – 2:30 p.m.

No Skate Dates: Fridays: 2/9 & 3/22 Sundays: 3/10

Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian who is 18 years or older. Children ages 13-17 without an adult staying onsite must be paid for and signed in by an adult that can leave emergency contact information. Only persons wearing skates are permitted on the ice surface. Helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters.

WCFA Spring Jury Exhibit WCFA’s exhibit, running through April 13, ‘TALKIN’ TRASH,’ features Art created with items rescued from the landfill. The exhibit is juried by Beverly Silva. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. every Wednesday through Saturday. There is no charge for admission.  

Warwick Weekend Saturday:

WCFA Souper Saturday Show at 6:45 p.m. for an early intro to contra dance class, followed by the regular class at 7 p.m. There will be live music. We often switch partners after every dance so there is no need to bring a partner, and no experience is needed to have a fantastic time. The event will be In the gallery at Warwick Center for the Arts, 3259 Post Road, Warwick. There’s on-street parking and additional parking behind the building

  • PARKING MAP: 3273 Post Rd Parking – plenty of free parking on street or next to or behind the arts center. Here’s the map.
  • LIVE MUSIC! Band: Woody and the Westside Warblers
  • CALLER: Billy Fischer
  • ADMISSION: $15 – $20 per person (sliding scale) / / Students (with ID) $10. Contributions are always encouraged and accepted to keep this dance going
  • FOOD: Soup and cornbread $3 a bowl
  • CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Clothing is casual, layers are best for this invigorating exercise. Please wear non-street shoes that move easily on the floor (rubber soled sneakers are ok but harder to dance with)
  • ROLE TERMS: Traditional – “ladies & gents” or “women & men” but all are welcome to choose the role term that works for them!
