WARWICK, RI — In this week’s Warwick Thanksgiving football game, Pilgrim jumped out to an early 20-0 lead and didn’t look back en route to a 32-0 blanking of Toll Gate.

The visiting Patriots could arguably have compiled a bigger lead in the first half, but penalties stalled a Pilgrim drive and pushed back what was otherwise an easy PAT into an 18-yard attempt.

Senior RB Tristan Miller bobbled a high snap in the first quarter but hung onto the ball and rushed in for a TD from 30 yards out to give the Patriots the early lead. Fellow senior QB Chace Roberts directed the Pilgrim offense to another score in the second quarter on the strength of a 54-yard TD pass to senior WR Jack Coffey.

Roberts later connected with senior WR Justyn Murphy to give the Patriots a 20-0 advantage in the second quarter. Pilgrim continued mixing up rushes and throws to keep the Titan defense on its toes, while the Patriot defense stifled the Toll Gate offense led by senior QB Jayden Pina.

With the win, Pilgrim extended its Thanksgiving Day record to 4-2 over the Titans in the rivalry that dates back to 2016 following the closure of Warwick Vets High School.

Pilgrim completed the regular season 6-4, good for fifth in Division 3-B, just short of a playoff berth. Toll gate finished seventh in Division 3-A with a 1-7 overall record.
