Warwick Road Work Update, Aug. 26

Warwick, RI — One project nears completion as another gets a formal kick-off in Warwick roadwork news.

It’ll be the end of the week before there’s access to Exit 8 off I-95 South, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced on Monday.

As part of the Barton Corners Bridge replacement project, traffic on I-95 has been rerouted to the northbound section of the overpass while the southbound section is replaced. That work is expected to wrap up by Aug. 28.

Apponaug project groundbreaking

Also this week, officials from the city, state and federal government are expected to attend a groundbreaking for the Apponaug Circulator project on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The ceremony, marking the official start of the $29.9 million project, is planned for Gorton’s Pond Fishing Pier, 33 Veterans Memorial Drive.

Some of the preparatory work has already been done in the area of one of the project’s planned five rotaries, with local business owners saying they’re willing to wait through the road construction because it promises a long-term benefit.
