Warwick City Council: Appointments, Traffic Signs on Tonight’s Agenda

WARWICK — The Warwick City Council is scheduled to make several appointments and consider traffic signs at a number of locations during tonight’s meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall.

On tonight’s docket are announcements of the following appointments:

  • David McGhie, of 610A Buttonwoods Ave. as harbormaster until March 1, 2026
  • Katie E. DeGoosh-DiMarzio, 258 Tennyson Road, and Alicia Nero, 17 Fir Glad Drive, to fill the city’s two vacancies on the Pawtuxet River Authority Board of Directors, with Paul DePetrillo and Alisa Diaz Richardson serving as vice members, and renewal of the appointment of Jennifer Ryan, 71 Community Road, until June 1, 2022. DeGoosh-DiMarzio’s and DePetrillo’s terms would run until June 1, 2024, while Nero and Diaz Richardson would be appointed until June 1, 2023.

Councilors will also consider the appointments of Warwick Department of Tourism Acting Director Elizabeth Dunton and former Director Karen Jedson to the Warwick Tourism Advisory Board, along with John J. Goodman of the RI Airport Corporation, Ryan Giviens of Homewood Suites by Marriott, and Bob Ayers of the MidTown Hotel. If approved, they would serve until Aug. 1, 2022.

No parking ordinances get second reading

Several “no parking” signs included in an ordinance proposed by Ward 9 Councilman Vincent Gebhart  are up for a second reading tonight. If approved, the signs would be placed at:
  • Baycliff Avenue from Somerset Road to Beachwood Drive
  • Lakedell Drive between Beachwood Drive and Somerset Road
  • Rosedale Avenue
  • Sawyer Avenue north of Charlotte Drive
  • Robert Avenue
  • Hale Avenue
  • Charlotte Drive from Robert Avenue to the east end of Charlotte Drive
  • Charlotte Drive from Robert Avenue to the west end of Charlotte Drive

In a separate ordinance that is also scheduled for a second hearing, Gebhart proposed a sign restricting parking and allowing only boat loading and unloading on Robert Avenue north of Charlotte Drive.

Councilors will hold subcommittee hearings starting at 5 p.m., prior to the full council session.
