WARWICK –Mayor Joseph J. Solomon is keeping all city buildings closed to the public until further notice to limit spread of the the coronavirus causing COVID-19.

The previous limit set by the Mayor for the city building closure was today, April 3.

“Just today, the Governor stated that Rhode Island is not ready if a surge of COVID-19 cases hits Rhode Island right now. The facts are very, very sobering: we simply do not have enough ventilators, hospital beds, or medical personnel to handle the spike in cases we are desperately trying to prevent,” said Solomon. “I am doing whatever is possible to stop the spread of COVID-19 here in Warwick. I know this is a tremendous hardship for many people, and believe me, I consider the best interest of the residents I serve in any decisions I make. I know people are struggling. But the reality is that we are in the ‘rapid spread’ phase of this virus, and the best prevention is containment. As difficult as it is for all of us, we must continue to keep buildings and offices closed to prevent the spread of this dangerous virus.”

Solomon has offered a list of resources available for residents, including contact information and online resources for the City of Warwick, aid for businesses, financial assistance, mental health support, food services, and more.

Solomon also encouraged residents to visit warwickri.gov often for updates and information. Additionally, Mayor Solomon will continue providing updates on Facebook and Twitter as frequently as possible.
