Upcoming Warwick Events: June 19 through 26

Warwick RI — The first week of summer brings with it lots of summer-themed activities around Warwick, including a golf tournament at Potowomut, the weekly farmer’s market in Pawtuxet, and the Lions Club’s Cruise Night in Oakland Beach.

Thursday, June 19, 2014:

Always… Patsy Cline, 7:30 p.m.

It’s the final set of shows at Ocean State Theatre for this one-of-a-kind tribute to a one-of-a-kind talent. Also Saturday, June 21, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 22 at 2 p.m. $39/$49/$54. More info and online tickets available at the Ocean State Theatre website.

Friday, June 20, 2014:

Improv Night, 7 p.m.

The Museum of Art in Apponaug continues its weekly improv night with the Bring Your Own Improv troupe. The fun starts at 7 p.m. with Family-Friendly [PG-rated] improvisational performances and continuing at 9 p.m. with Adult-Themed [R-rated] acts. Audience participation is part of the show, so no two performances are the same.

Saturday, June 21, 2014:

Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m.

Unleash your inner “locavore” at the Pawtuxet Farmer’s Market, featuring a wide variety of food from Rhode Island farms. New this year are Small State Seeds from Scratch Farm in Cranston, so you can also grow your own tasty veggies.

The June 21 market is also notable for the Goodwill Industries E-Waste Collection, where the good folks at Goodwill are accepting computers and peripherals, cell phones, small appliances, and copiers/printers. Television drop-off requires $10 donation.

Monday, June 23, 2014:

Golf tournament, 11 a.m.

Potowomut Golf Course hosts the 2014 Saint Elizabeth Community Golf Classic, with tee-off at 11 a.m. Cost is $200 per golfer. Online registration and promotional opportunities available here.

Tuesday, June 24, 2014:

Oakland Beach Cruise Night, 4 p.m.

Take a drive out to Iggy’s and check out the weekly Cruise Night at Oakland Beach hosted by the Warwick Lion’s Club. [Link goes to their Facebook page, be sure to check for updates.]

Miami String Quartet at Ocean State Theater, 7:30 p.m.

Music on the Hill, which celebrates its 40th anniversary with the seventh season of its redesigned Music on the Hill Festival, will bring three of its concerts to Ocean State Theatre Company’s state-of-the-art facility located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevardin Warwick on June 24, 26 and 28 at 7:30 pm.

The three concerts at Ocean State Theatre will feature the acclaimed Miami String Quartet, who will be making their Music on the Hill debut.

Praised in The New York Times as having “everything one wants in a quartet: a rich, precisely balanced sound, a broad coloristic palette, real unity of interpretive purpose and seemingly unflagging energy,” the Miami String Quartet has established its place among the most widely respected quartets in America.

Night Light Orchestra, 6:30 p.m.

Warwick City Hall is the setting for the outdoor Night Light Orchestra performance. In case of rain, the show will be held across the street at Warwick Central Baptist Church.

Miami String Quartet, 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 3, 2014:

4th of July Fireworks, 9 p.m.
