WARWICK, R.I. — Members of the RI State Police’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force ended a month-long investigation in Hope Valley Dec. 1 with the arrest of three residents from Warwick, Narragansett, and Hopkinton and the seizure of several marijuana plants and $1,386 in cash.
Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of Public Safety, announced the results of the operation in a release posted to the agency’s web page.
During the investigation, members of the task force identified a marijuana distribution organization operating out of the Hope Valley area. On December 1, task force members searched several vehicles and residences in Hopkinton, Richmond and Warwick. In the course of the searches, troopers seized:
- Approximately 17 pounds of Marijuana
- 167 Mature marijuana plants
- 126 marijuana seedlings
- $1,386.00 in United States currency
- Packaging materials to include vacuum sealers and digital scale
Based on this investigation, the following individuals were arrested and charged accordingly:
Yujie Cai, 34, of 55 Laurel Street, Apt. #2, Hopkinton, Rhode Island was arrested and charged with: Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Deliver- Marijuana; and Manufacture/Possession/Delivery of Schedule I- (Marijuana) in excess of -5 Kilos; Controlled substance conspiracy.
Ye Cai, 50 of 87 Toll Gate Road, Warwick, Rhode Island was arrested and charged with: o Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Deliver- Marijuana; and Manufacture/Possession/Delivery of Schedule I- (Marijuana) in excess of -5 Kilos; Controlled substance conspiracy.
Alexander Ritchie, 20, of 57 Avice Street, Narragansett, Rhode Island was arrested and charged with: Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Deliver- Marijuana; and o Manufacture/Possession/Delivery of Schedule I- (Marijuana) in excess of -5 Kilos o Controlled substance conspiracy
Yujie Cai, Xuan Ye Cai, and Alexander Ritchie were all processed at State Police Hope Valley Barracks, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released with surety bail.
