Troopers Arrest MA Bank Robber at Motel 6

Warwick, RI – Two days after Southbridge, MA Police issued a nationwide warrant for a Massachusetts man wanted in connection to a Southbridge, MA bank robbery April 7, RI State Police and officers from MA and Warwick  arrested him at Motel 6 in Warwick.

Southbridge Police issued the warrant seeking the arrest of Alexander R. Wheaton, 25, of 88 Cross St., Southbridge, MA, as a Fugitive from Justice from Massachusetts on the charge of Bank Robbery. Police wanted Wheaton for robbing Savers Bank, 270 Main St., Southbridge, MA.

On April 10, members of the MA State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, along with Southbridge Police Department Detectives, developed information the Alexander Wheaton was possibly staying at the Motel 6 located on Jefferson Boulevard,

At about 8 p.m., the RI Violent Fugitive Task Force, along with uniformed troopers and a Warwick Police Patrolman, responded to the Motel 6 and arrested Wheaton without incident.

Wheaton was arraigned before The Honorable Judge William C. Clifton as a Fugitive from Justice in Sixth Division District Court, Garrahy Judicial Complex, One Dorrance Plaza, Providence. He waived extradition and will be taken into custody by members of the Southbridge Police Department on Monday, April 13.
