WARWICK, RI —Thundermist Health Center, headquartered in Warwick, has announced Dr. Matthew Malek is its new Medical Director of Provider Experience.
The medical director of provider experience is a new role at Thundermist and responsible for overseeing initiatives targeted at addressing the needs and concerns of the organization’s clinicians.
Malek recently served as the medical director at Tri-County Community Action Agency Health Center. He also holds appointment as a clinical assistant professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, and director of evidence-based medicine at the Maternal Child Health Fellowship of Rhode Island.
“Dr. Malek has years of experience caring for underserved patients, including children. He brings an array of knowledge and previous experience working with providers in the health center setting,” said Dr. David Bourassa, chief medical officer. “Provider burnout is an issue felt across the country. Dr. Malek will help improve the experience for Thundermist providers.”

Malek received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his residency program at Boston University Family Medicine Residency.
Malek is also fellowship-trained in high-risk obstetrics and newborn care and specializes in a family-centered approach to pregnancy, childbirth, and pediatric care. He also speaks Spanish.
