WARWICK, RI — Rhode Island State Police are investigating a fatal Warwick crash on Rte. 95 South Friday night when an SUV driven by an Exeter man struck trees along the highway.

Troopers from the Rhode Island State Police Wickford Barracks responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Route 95 south, south of Cowesett Road in Warwick, at about 7:40 p.m., State Police reported Saturday morning.

At the crash scene, troopers found a 2017 Kia Sportage west of Rte. 95, which had struck several trees. The sole occupant, Ravi Rahul, 41, of Exeter, RI, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, but died as a result of his injuries, according to the report.

The preliminary investigation indicates Rahul left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck several trees. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors, according to State Police.
Troopers from the State Police Wickford Barracks and State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are still investigating the crash.
Police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the Wickford Barracks at 401-444-1064.
