WARWICK, RI — A Providence man arrested after a State Police Cruiser Hit & Run June 14 has been ordered held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions, Cranston, for violating terms of parole from two previous cases.

Montrell T. Marshall, 27, of 50 Trask St., Providence, also faces two felony counts of drug possession, three misdemeanor DUI charges, and one misdemeanor charge each of reckless driving and leaving the scene of the crash stemming from the incident, where Marshall’s vehicle entered the breakdown lane on Rte. 95 north in Warwick and hit the left side of the state police car.

Rhode Island State Police reported that Marshall fled the scene and was later apprehended by police near the East Avenue exit on Rte. 95 in Pawtucket.

Officers also found two young children in the vehicle and returned them to their mother; two of the DUI charges against Marshall involve being intoxicated in the company of the children.

At the time of his arrest Marshall had been awaiting trial on a felony drug possession charge brought by Providence Police in January. Marshall had also been serving a three-year suspended sentence and three year’s probation for a felony drug possession charge brought by Johnston Police in May, 2022.

On Aug. 16,Superior Court  Associate Justice Luis M. Matos found Marshall to be in violation of the bail terms set on the Providence and Johnston cases, and ordered Marshall held at the ACI.

Marshall is next due in court on Sept. 18 for a screening in the state police case.
