WARWICK, RI — RI State Police report two recent arrests of men they’ve charged with soliciting children online for sex, one from Connecticut and another from Warwick.

Members of the Rhode Island State Police/Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force conducted two separate ICAC investigations recently, leading to the arrests, according to an announcement from Col. James M. Manni, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police.

Details of the investigations and arrests are included below:

Richard Manchester, 60, of 72 Deerfield Drive, Warwick, was arrested on two counts of Indecent Solicitation of a Child after an investigation was initiated into Manchester soliciting a person he believed to be a fourteen 14-year-old Rhode Island boy for sex and to send nude photos.

Manchester was taken into custody by State Police after visiting a pre-arranged location to meet the boy for sex. Manchester will also be arraigned at Third Division District Court this morning.

Geoffrey DeMatteo, 31, of 34 White Hollow Road, Northford, CT, was arrested on one count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child after an investigation was initiated into DeMatteo soliciting a 13-year old Rhode Island boy to perform sex acts while video chatting.
