WARWICK, RI  — City Councilman Jeremy Rix reports the demolition permit for the old Rhodes School property has been issued and all the mitigation work required to begin demolishing the building has been finished.

The demolition is prelude to redevelopment of the property by h.a. Fisher Homes, which plans to build 30 single-family houses at the site.

“Weather permitting, demolition will start tomorrow, on Thursday,” Rix said in an email to Ward 2 and Norwood residents.

“The process should take approximately two weeks.  Thank you to everyone who helped us get to this point, including Mayor Solomon and everyone at the City who stayed on top of this, Hugh Fisher and his team at Fisher Homes for their prompt communication and willingness to listen and compromise, and everyone here in the neighborhood who participated in this process to help get the best results for the neighborhood,” Rix said.

Rix warned residents of the area and the public in general to avoid the property during the demolition.
