Warwick, RI — Traffic stops conducted this week by RI State Police accounted for a number of Warwick-related arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs (DUI), and for possession of heroin, starting with the end of a long holiday weekend.

Warwick man among 13 arrested for DUI Thanksgiving weekend RI State Police arrested 13 people for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol during the extended Thanksgiving weekend. Among those arrests was Paulo Amorim, 32, of 185 Brentwood Ave., Warwick.

Troopers charged Amorum with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor/Drugs- First Offense and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

Traffic stop ends in arrest for possession of heroin At 2:12 a.m. Dec. 1, troopers arrested Steven McGruder, 47, of 179 Brook Street New Bedford, MA, for Possession with Intent to Deliver, Schedule I-IV (Heroin).

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in the City of Warwick. The subject was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

Fall River man flees troopers, arrested for heroin possession At 2:12 a.m. Dec. 1, troopers arrested Darryl Creer, 55, of 1284 Bedford St. Fall River, Massachusetts for 1.) Possession with Intent to Deliver, Schedule I-IV (Heroin), 2.) Eluding –First Offense, 3.) Resisting Arrest. This arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick.

Creer was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

Man arrested after tri-city chase also wanted for fleeing troopers Nov. 25 At 11 a.m. Dec. 2, troopers arrested William Marrero-Castejon, 27, of 125 Houston Street, Apt. 2, Providence, RI for Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer in High Pursuit.

The arrest was the result of troopers assisting Warwick Police Department with a motor vehicle pursuit and identifying the operator as same which failed to stop for Troopers on Nov. 25, in Providence.

Marrero-Castejon was arraigned at Third Division District Court and held as a probation violator.

Traffic stop nabs court scofflaw On Dec. 2 at 11:31 a.m., troopers arrested Dylan Bowen, 22, of 35 Tyler Drive, Sandwich, MA, for a Providence Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Cost Review on the original charge of Possession of Schedule I-V out of the Woonsocket Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 South in the City of Warwick. Bowen was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed, and turned over to Providence Superior Court.

Providence court scofflaw arrested on warrant On Dec. 3 at 12:30 a.m., troopers arrested Jose Acevedo, 37, of 138 Whitehall St., Providence for a Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Operating on a Suspended License out of the West Greenwich Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 North in the City of Warwick.

Acevedo was transported to the Wickford Barracks for processing and was later turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution-Intake Center.

NK man arrested on warrant during traffic stop On Dec. 3 at 8:40 p.m., troopers arrested Rick McMemomy, 54, of 197 Oak Hill Road, North Kingstown for a Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear/Ability to Pay on the original charge of DUI/ 1st Offense out of North Kingstown PD.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue in the City of Warwick. Subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks for processing and was later turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution-Intake Center.
