Warwick, RI — State Police arrested people wanted on shoplifting and harassing phone call charges this week, and also caught up with a number of people who failed to show up to court on various charges.

Man wanted for shoplifting arrested in Coventry At 5 p.m. Jan. 20, troopers arrested Albert Schmidt, 28, of 47 Wendell St., Coventry, on an Affidavit/Arrest Warrant for Shoplifting originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a follow up investigation on Tiogue Avenue. Schmidt was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed and turned over to the Warwick Police Department.

Phone harasser arrested after traffic stop On Jan. 19 at 11:26 p.m., troopers arrested Joanne Knapp, 54, of 86 Asqah Drive, North Kingstown, Rhode Island on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Domestic – Harassing Telephone Calls originating out of the Providence Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in Warwick. Knapp was taken to the State Police Wickford Barracks, where she was processed and later transported to the Providence Police Department.

Court scofflaw arrested on Main Avenue At 8:55 p.m. Jan. 21, troopers arrested Alexis Gomes, 20, of 63 Staples Ave., Apartment 1152, Providence Rhode Island for 1.) Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Sentencing on the charge of Driving with a Suspended License originating out of the Warwick Police Department; 2.) Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Sentencing on the charge of Driving with a Suspended License originating out of the West Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Main Ave, Warwick. Gomes was transported to State Police Wickford Barracks where she was processed and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Women’s Intake Center.

Court scofflaw arrested during traffic stop At 8:55 p.m. Jan. 21, troopers arrested Courtney Gomes, 22, of 15 Limestone St., Warwick, for a Sixth District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial Conference on the charge of Driving with a Suspended License originating out of the Providence Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Main Avenue in Warwick. The subject was transported to State Police Wickford Barracks where she was processed and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Women’s Intake Center.

Woman arrested for skipping court on felony shoplifting charge On Jan. 20 at 3:40 p.m., troopers arrested Elizabeth Peixoto, 31, of 212 Academy Ave., Providence for a Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-trial Court on the original charge of Felony Shoplifting originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Park Avenue in the City of Woonsocket. Peixoto was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed, and turned over to the ACI Intake Center.
