RI Trooper Log: Arrests for B&E, Domestic Assault, Klonopin Possession

RI Trooper Log arrests, including Warwick arrests. The Rhode Island State Police are stationed in several barracks throughout Rhode Island.

Warwick, RI – State Police activity involving residents of and stops in Warwick this week resulted in arrests on warrants for missing court on shoplifting and B&E charges, and also for assault, robbery and possession of  Klonopin.

Troopers arrest woman wanted in Warwick for domestic assault At 10:13 a.m. Feb. 28, troopers arrested Dontez Towns, 25, of 21 Searle St., Providence, RI on 1) Affidavit Arrest Warrant out of the Pawtucket Police Department for Domestic Simple Assault, Domestic Disorderly Conduct 2) Third District Court Bench Warrant for Fail to Appear for Payment Review on the charge of Domestic assault out of the Warwick Police Department, and 3) Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for SVT on the charge of Passing a Counterfeit Bill or Note originating out of the Providence Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Plainfield Street in the City of Providence. The subject was transported to the State Police Headquarters, processed and transported to Superior Court.

State Police arrest man for robbery, missing stolen vehicle arraignment On Feb. 28, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Eugene J. Grundy, 25, of 4 Hillard St., Providence, RI, on the following: 1) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Robbery out of West Warwick; and 2) Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the charge of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle out of Warwick.

Grundy was turned over to members of the West Warwick Police Department.

Troopers arrest man wanted for missing suspended license hearing On Tuesday, Feb. 28, at about 4:14 p.m., troopers arrested Brandon Nadich, 27, of 65 Marlow St., Cranston, RI for an active Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Payment Review on the original charge of Driving With a Suspended License out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Burnside Street in the City of Cranston. The subject was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, where he was processed and later turned over to the ACI- Mens Intake Center.

State Police arrest man wanted in Warwick for assault On Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at approximately 11:41 AM, Trooper arrested Gregory Grullon, age 27, of 65 Sumter Street, Providence, RI for an active Affidavit/Arrest Warrant for Assault out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a Motor Vehicle Stop on Reservoir Avenue in the City of Providence. Grullon was processed and later turned over to the Warwick Police Department.

Five-car crash on Rte. 95 north injures three, closes three lanes Three people suffered minor injuries in a five-car crash on Rte. 95 north around 12:45 p.m. March 1, resulting in the closure of three of the four lanes of traffic while state police and rescue crews assisted at the scene.

State Police Capt. Matthew Moynihan said the crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Rte. 95, just south of Route 117. Three people were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, Moynihan said. The crash was cleared and all four lanes of the highway were reopened to traffic by 2:45 p.m.

Warwick stop nabs man wanted for assault At 3 p.m. March 1, troopers arrested Raymond Cruz, 40, of 50 Randall St. Apartment #7C, Providence, Rhode Island on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Assault out of the Pawtucket Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick. Subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed and turned over to the Pawtucket Police Department.

Troopers arrest man wanted by WPD for shoplifting, failing to register as sex offender On March 1, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Robert Ayala, 38, of 526 Branch Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island, on the following: 1) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender from the Cranston Police Department; 2) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Shoplifting from the Cranston Police Department; 3) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Felony Shoplifting from the Warwick Police Department; 4) Providence Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial Conference on an original charge of Sex Offender Registration originating from the Pawtucket Police Department; 5) Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial Conference on an original charge of Sex Offender Registration originating from the Warwick Police Department; and 6) Providence Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Arraignment Conference on an original charge of Obtaining a Controlled Substance/Fraud originating from the East Providence Police Department. Mr. Ayala was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and turned over to the Cranston Police Department.

Warwick stop ends in arrest for Klonopin possession At 11:01 p.m. March 1, troopers arrested Joseph Lafazia, age 36, of 757 Dyer Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island for 1) Possession of Schedule I-V (Klonopin, a controlled substance used to treat seizures and panic attacks. 2) Driving with a Suspended License. Arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick. Subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

Man misses hearing on B&E charge, arrested on Jefferson Boulevard At 12 a.m. March 1, troopers arrested Jonathan Kunze, 26, of 19 Hornet St., North Kingstown, Rhode Island for 1) Driving with a Suspended License, 2) Washington County Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Restitution Review on the original charge of Breaking and Entering of a Dwelling with Felony Intent originating out of the North Kingstown Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Jefferson Boulevard in the City of Warwick. Kunze was transported to the Wickford Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

Woman misses court on shoplifting charge, arrested on Jefferson Boulevard At 12 a.m. March1, troopers arrested Danielle Devona, 29, of 200 Mayfield Ave., Cranston, Rhode Island for a Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-trial Conference on the original charge of Shoplifting originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick. Subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks where she was processed and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institution Women’s Intake.
