Rep. Solomon appointed chair of House Committee on Municipal Government

Rep. Joe Solomon Jr.

STATE HOUSE — Speaker of the House Nicholas Mattiello has appointed Rep. Joseph J. Solomon Jr. (D-Dist. 22, Warwick) to serve as chairman of the House Committee on Municipal Government.

The committee considers all matters affecting municipal governments and transportation.

“I am honored that the Speaker has chosen me to helm this committee. I look forward to helping guide all bills that help cities and towns through the legislative process,” Solomon said.

Mattiello also appointed Solomon to the House Oversight, Corporations, and Veterans’ Affairs committees.

The Oversight Committee reviews the operation and efficiency of various state departments and agencies, fulfilling the legislature’s oversight role under separation of powers.

The Committee on Corporations considers issues relating to financial institutions, business regulation, property and casualty insurance and consumer protection.

The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs handles all legislation impacting the lives of Rhode Island veterans and those currently in military service.

Representative Solomon was first elected to the House in November 2014.
