WARWICK, RI — The Planet Fitness at Pace Boulevard is moving down Rte. 2 a bit to the Rhode Island Mall, 650 Bald Hill Road, where it will open its doors on Monday.

The new location will be next to another new store, Dicks Sporting Goods. The new storefronts fill the space left vacant when Sears closed its location at the mall in September, ending its onetime anchor store run at the retail center.

Members at the new Planet Fitness will enjoy more than 18,000 sq. feet of space filled with more than  80 pieces of cardio equipment, 20 55” plasma TVs with wireless connections to all cardio equipment, tile and granite appointed locker rooms, HydroMassage beds, and massage chairs, among other amenities.

“We at Planet Fitness are always looking for opportunities to improve the value we deliver to members. When we saw this location at the Rhode Island Mall come available we jumped at the opportunity since it significantly increased member convenience with direct access from major highways and traffic routes. We believe our members will love our new location,” said Planet Fitness franchisee Steve Eddleston.

“We encourage everyone to come down and check out our brand new flagship location at the remodeled Rhode Island Mall, which replaces our former Warwick location behind Herb Chambers on Bald Hill Road. We have taken the opportunity to upgrade our facility with state-of-the-art equipment and significantly improve member convenience with this awesome location right next door to the new Dick’s Sporting Goods,” said Eddleston. “We look forward to further deepening our existing presence in the Warwick community with this brand new location and invite everyone to our Grand Opening festivities.”

The Grand Opening event will be held Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. with giveaways, refreshments, and club tours.
