NWS: Slick Roads for Tuesday Afternoon

[CREDIT: NWS] The National Weather Service warns commuters Tuesday’s afternoon commute will be slick with low visibility.

WARWICK, RI — Warwick — It’s the timing, not the shoveling, prompting the National Weather Service warning about Tuesday afternoon’s snowstorm, with slick roads and low visibility in store.

Starting tomorrow afternoon and running into the evening commute, the NWS warns of slick roadways, especially if left untreated. Low visibility thanks to snowfall rates of about an inch an hour expected during the early part of the storm, according to the agency.

The NWS winter weather advisory for the area begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday and lasts through 10 p.m.  Snow is expected to begin at about noon, and will transition to a wintry mix of mostly sleet then to freezing rain across the interior Southern New England , ending early to mid morning Wednesday, the service reports.

Snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and a light glaze of ice expected.
