Warwick, RI – Nadia Cosper, 13, was found late June 25 by Pawtucket Police after a traffic stop in the company of an 18-year-old man and two men in their 20s, and is safe, Warwick Police report.

Warwick Police Capt. Joseph Coffey said Pawtucket Police transferred the teen to Warwick Police custody at about 10:30 p.m. He said the teen’s disappearance is still under investigation.

One of the three men in the car during the stop, the 18-year-old, was a person Warwick Police had suspected the teen was with voluntarily. Coffey said there were no charges associated with the discovery of the missing teen.

Though locating the missing teenager was the result of a traffic stop, Coffey praised the response of the community to the department’s search for the girl. Warwick Police sent a release to local residents about the missing girl using the CodeRED emergency messaging system Wednesday morning at about 11 a.m.

Throughout the day and this morning, Coffey said, he’s received numerous tips and offers of aid from concerned parents, psychologists and local agencies.

“I want to recognize the amount of tips that we received,” he said. The robust response to the search is a testament to the power of the CodeRED system and the community’s willingness to work together with police, Coffey said.
