WARWICK, RI — Two officers were called to Norwood Baptist Church, 48 Budlong Ave. June 30 at 6:38 p.m. for a report of a man lying in the grass, arresting him on a warrant from Sixth District Court for missing a pre-trial conference on suspended license charge.
Officer Christopher Gillis arrived at the address and spoke with the man, identifying him as Ricardo Lucas, 26, of 271 Union Ave., Providence, according to the officer’s report.
Gillis inquired if Lucas was OK. Lucas responded that he was all right, but that he needed help to get home.Officer John Zaborski, who also responded to the call, ran Lucas’s name through a background check, finding that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Sixth District Court for failing to appear for a pre-trial conference.
RI Court records show Lucas had missed the pretrial conference on a suspended license charge. Two additional officers arrived and took custody of Lucas. They then transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive. An officer later transferred him to the ACI.
