Warwick, RI – Lakewood Baptist Church’s 13th annual Benefit Concert for the RI Food Bank collected 475 lbs. of food and raised $2,156 in donations to the RI Food Bank March 29, organizers report.
The benefit concert “was a huge success,” wrote Amy Smith, a member of the church, on the church’s Facebook page.
About 170 people attended to enjoy an evening of music performed by members of eight local churches. The benefit collected 165 lbs. more than last year. The $2,156 donated to the food bank will help purchase more than 6,300 lbs. of food for the 63,000 hungry Rhode Islanders who rely on the food bank and their member food pantries and soup kitchens, Smith wrote.
