WARWICK, R.I. — The 52nd annual Gaspee Days 5K enjoyed weather in the 70s, a little warmer than the ideal for long-distance runners, but members of the 1,487 strong field sported smiles as they finished to the cheers of friends and announcers.
Finishing first and second in the men’s division respectively were Amos Sang, 28, of Chicopee, MA with a time of 14:37.5 and Glarius Rop, 33, of Agawam, with at time of 14:43:00.
First place in the women’s open went to Apryl Sabadosa, 33, of Westfield, MA, with a time of 17:00.7. Second place went to Kaela O’Neil, 38 of North Kingstown, with a time of 17:50:00.
Runners were welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd as they rounded the final corner headed toward Rhodes on the Pawtuxet for the final few hundred yards on Rhodes Place as the Gaspee Days Parade geared up down the road on Narragansett Parkway at 10 a.m.
