WARWICK, RI — A West Warwick woman whose car crashed at the entrance to Community College of Rhode Island in August has had her license suspended for seven months, and been ordered to perform community service and attend state alcohol education classes.

Shakira Baker, 39, pleaded not guilty to a charge of refusing to submit to a chemical test before Traffic Tribunal judge Domenic A. DiSandro III  on Sept. 11. In a separate traffic court case, Warwick Police withdrew a citation for failure to obey traffic signals.

Police also filed a motion in Third District Court to dismiss a DUI charge against Baker. A hearing to expunge the case from Baker’s court history is scheduled for Dec. 10.

A Warwick police officer responded to the East Avenue entrance of CCRI at about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 and found Baker’s car with front-end damage. Ofc. Brian Holloran reported that Baker failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
