WARWICK, RI — Officer Matthew Moretti stopped a red 2004 Mazda on Elmwood Avenue with its center and left brake lights out June 18 at 11:06 p.m., arresting the driver and charging him with illegal possession of Adderall.
Moretti activated the siren and emergency lights on his unmarked cruiser, pulling the driver over near Pawtuxet Avenue, according to the officer’s report. The officer spoke with the driver, identifying him as Darith Roeun, 26, of 89 Waverly St., Providence. He also identified his passenger, Nheat Nhim, 33, who was on federal probation for first degree robbery, felony assault with a dangerous weapon and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
As Moretti spoke with the men, he noted an odor of marijuana coming from the car, and spotted a marijuana cigarette in the side pocket of the driver’s door.
Due to the passenger’s criminal history and the presence of marijuana, Morretti requested a second officer back him up, then asked the men to step fro the car. As the officer searched the men, he found a pill bottle in Darith’s pocket, which the man said was Adderall, for which he had a prescription.
The second part of that claim was not proven true during the stop, but Moretti was able to identify the pills as 10 mg doses of Adderall, but Darith was unable to identify the doctor who had prescribed it to him, where he had gotten the prescription filled, or when. The label had been peeled from the bottle, but the cap had a Walgreen’s logo printed on it, the officer noted in his report.
Morretti arrested Darith and placed him in his cruiser, and searched his car, finding several marijuana cigarettes and what appeared to be marijuana leafs.
At Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, Darith was charged with illegal possession of Adderall, and also cited for driving with a suspended license.
