City Council Honors RI Principal of the Year Patricia Cousineau

WARWICK, RI — Councilman Ed Ladouceur called Warwick Nick Principal Patricia Cousineau to the front of Council Chambers during Monday’s meeting to publicly congratulate her for winning the 2019 RI Elementary Principal of the Year title, with a surprise guest waiting for her.

Ladouceur reminisced about his son, Ryan, who had been a student of Cousineau’s in her third grade class, and, a few moments later, called him down from the audience. The younger Ladouceur came bearing a bouquet for Cousineau, and a hug.

The surprise was the second Cousineau had received related to winning the Elementary Principal of the Year title. On April 9, Ron Rebello of the The Rhode Island Association of School Principals (RIASP), which named Cousineau RI Elementary Teacher of the year, surprised her with the title during a ceremony along with faculty and staff at Warwick Neck Elementary School. Mayor Joseph J. Solomon also joined them for the event.

RIASP released a statement about what made Consineau stand out as this year’s principal of the year:

Cousineau-Principal-of-the-year

Yesterday, I had the distinct honor of joining the faculty and staff at Warwick Neck Elementary School as they celebrated Patricia Cousineau as she was named as Rhode Island’s 2019 Principal of the Year! Congratulations, Mrs. Cousineau, for the amazing accomplishment and making Warwick proud. Posted by Mayor Joe Solomon on Tuesday, April 9, 2019
