WPD: Warwick Mall Indecent Exposure, Kidnapping Witnesses Sought

WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police are asking for potential witnesses to a Dec. 7 Indecent exposure and kidnapping at Warwick Mall following their arrest of the 47-year-old suspect.

On that date, at about 11:54 a.m., Warwick offers were called to the mall at 400 Bald Hill Road for a report of a possible sexual assault. Officer spoke with a juvenile male who reported that he had been confined against his will in a restroom stall by a man. He also reported the man had exposed himself to the juvenile while in the stall, according to a statement by Warwick Police.

Warwick Police detectives investigated the report,  identifying the suspect as  Michael Medeiros, 48, of Providence, RI. On Dec. 19, Warwick Police arrested Medeiros, charging him with Kidnapping and Indecent Exposure/Disorderly Conduct. The Kidnapping charge was due to Medeiros forcibly confining the juvenile against his will in the restroom stall, police reported.

Warwick Mall Security and Public Safety assisted the Warwick Police Department with this investigation.

“At this time, it is considered an isolated incident,” Warwick Police said in a statement about the investigation.

Police ask anyone who who may have heard or seen any part of the incident on Dec. 7 at the Warwick Mall at approximately 11:54 a.m. to contact the Warwick Police Department Detective Division at (401) 468-4233.
