WARWICK, RI — Warwick officers were called to Citizen’s Bank, 575 Greenwich Ave. Sept. 29 at 2:16 p.m. for a report of a woman using a fake ID to cash a check, arresting the woman on bank fraud and ID theft charges.
Det. Hovsep Sarkisian spoke with a bank employee who told him the woman had entered the bank and attempted to cash a TD bank check for $1,222.67. When she presented an ID, the teller was able to confirm the ID was a fraudulent RI driver’s license with all the correct account holder’s information on it. The teller contacted the account holder directly, confirming the woman was trying to access the woman’s funds fraudulently.
Sarkisian spoke with the woman in question, identified as Tracy Scarlota, 46, of 319 Loney St., Philidelphia, PA, who told him she had met with two men in Philidelphia in a silver Mercedes Benz with CA plates, who drove her to RI to help them cash the checks. In return, she said, they had offered her a portion of the money.
Warwick Police transported Scarlota to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, where she was processed and charged with one count each of bank fraud and Identity Theft.
